Master Degree In Public Policy – About the course The Master of Public Policy (MPP) is a one-year intensive course that offers a unique way to learn about public policy. The MPP begins with a carefully planned action plan during induction that provides an introduction to policy making and advice on how to get the most out of the MPP experience. The curriculum for the rest of the course is presented through a series of lectures, seminars, case studies and workshops in three terms, as well as a summer project that is an opportunity to use the knowledge and skills acquired through the program in the context of public policies. .
Master Degree In Public Policy
Policy challenges are becoming more complex every day and public leaders need to be able to use expertise from different professional fields to find new solutions. Therefore, the curriculum combines insights and methods from different fields of knowledge and incorporates a framework provided by leading policy makers.
Concurrent Degree Programme
You can also tailor your learning to meet your professional needs by choosing from a range of options and deepen your professional and work experience through modules such as counselling, communication, personal finance and design thinking. You will also gain further development of your skills and exposure to the challenges of global politics through a six-week summer internship. MPP students are expected to be fully committed to their studies and to take responsibility for their participation through work in all areas of the program.
In addition to teaching, which may include lectures, case studies, workshops and seminars, we encourage you to learn from each other, for example by forming study groups and organizing student-led talks and events. You will also be expected to do some independent work, including requirements and additional readings and case studies. You can also choose to earn a Master of Public Policy Research at the same time as a Master of Public Policy (MPP) as part of the Blavatnik School 1+1 program. This two-year program allows you to earn two degrees. simultaneously.
To be considered for the Public Policy 1+1, you must submit separate applications for the Master of Public Policy (MPP) and MSc in Public Policy Research in the first seeding process. You should follow the instructions in the How to Use section of each course page, paying particular attention to the privacy statement and written performance requirements for each course. You should clearly state in your personal statement that you wish to be considered for the 1+1 fellowship program.
What Can I Do With A Master Of Public Administration?
It is recommended that all students meet with their supervisors at least once during the semester. The assignment of graduate supervision for this course is the responsibility of the Blavatnik Government School and it is not always possible to accommodate incoming students’ wishes to work with a special staff member. The MPP is a professional degree that trains people to develop their skills in policy-making and research and is not designed to prepare you for research-based courses of study such as the DPhil in Public Policy.
Successful candidates of this course can transfer to the master’s degree in public policy research within the Blavatnik School 1+1 program, provided that the application for both programs is successful in the admission process and meets all requirements of the Blavatnik School 1+ 1 program has been completed (shown on page program).
Changes to this course and your supervision The University will endeavor to introduce this course in accordance with the information provided on this page. However, there may be circumstances where it is desirable or necessary for the University to make changes to the provision of courses, either before or after registration. The safety of students, staff and visitors is paramount and major changes to offerings or services may be necessary in the event of an epidemic, pandemic or local health emergency.
