As an English teacher, I wanted to work in an international school. Pursuing an MAEd will allow me to strengthen my leadership skills that are essential to leading change in education and managing people in schools. Furthermore, I was attracted by the flexibility of the program, which allowed me to manage my work, studies and motherhood at the same time.

MAEd has helped in promoting me at work, taking my career to the next level. Through the MAEd, I am equipped with research skills in education. I am now able to use different research methods to conduct case studies and improve my teaching methods in my classroom.

My professor Dr. One of my favorite things about the program was having a good relationship with Alberto Luis August. As my supervisor and thesis supervisor, Dr. August was very helpful. He answered all my questions and guided me to do my studies better. He knew what my weaknesses were and would not hesitate to point out my mistakes so that I could learn from them and do better. His guidance encouraged me to integrate research into teaching. I want to do research now because I’m seeing the benefits of using data analytics to improve academic performance in the workplace.

I had to manage my time to juggle work, studies and family at the same time. I had to read bedtime stories and wait until my children were asleep before studying. Fortunately, I had the support of my husband to pursue a MAEd. She took care of our children while I studied. In addition, Covid-19 has occurred and faced unexpected challenges to moving our courses online.
